Invitation to Writers

Dear Kannadigas, 

The Souvenir Committee of the World Kannada Conference (August 30th, 31st & September 1st, 2002, Detroit, Michigan) invites all of you to send your literary and artistic creations for "Spandana", a publication in the World Kannada Conference 2002 Souvenir. 

The objective of "Spandana" is twofold: to reflect the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka and Kannada and to discuss the contemporary issues, experiences and challenges faced by the non-resident Kannadigas. Articles should be in Kannada. Very limited number of English articles will be accepted. 

Poetry, short stories, dramas, real life experiences, essays, cartoons, jokes, research or review articles, observations, critiques will be accepted. Preference will be given to Kannada articles. Very limited number of English articles will be accepted. 

Deadlines to receive your literary contributions: April 30, 2002 
The requirements for the articles: 
  • Original articles; articles reflecting life and culture of Non-resident Kannada people will be preferred. 
  • Kannada Articles should be typed using Baraha 4.0 software fonts. You can download this software for free at http://www. Baraha.com 
  • Articles should be less than 1500 words (about three typed pages - 8.5" X 11.0"). 
  • Very limited number of English articles will be accepted. 
  • Articles reflecting the World Kannada Conference Theme – “Progress Through Pride, Unity and Assimilation”; “abhimAna, aikyathe, aLavaDikegaLimda abhyudaya” 
  • The articles may be sent electronically using Baraha Files, Text files or MS Word as attachments or by mail. 
  • Poems should not be more than 1 typed page. 
  • For sending your articles electronically, please send us an email at sanchike@akkaonline.org  
  • Please send your name, email address, phone number, city & country, a brief profile about you, and a photograph (1" wide X 1.25" height) with your entries. You can send pictures in GIF or jpeg format. We will try to include the author information in the sanchike. 
  • Your literary contribution should reach us before April 30, 2002

Editorial Board of Kannada Conference 2002 souvenir committee reserves the right to the articles when received by Kannada Conference 2002 souvenir committee and becomes the property of Kannada Conference souvenir committee, to publish without any remuneration or compensation to the authors of the said articles  
The articles when published represent the views of the author but not the views of Kannada Conference 2002 souvenir committee. The articles received by the Kannada Conference 2002 souvenir committee will not be returned back to the author.
