Kannada Conference is inviting all enthusiastic and talented
people, of all ages and from every state, to participate in
what we hope will
be a truly memorable and exceptional convention. We are looking
for fresh faces as well as seasoned veterans with new ideas.
We welcome your
participation in this fun-filled gala. The Program Committee
will notify selected entrants for the program and notify the
timings. We prefer to receive email inquires.
GENERAL
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CULTURAL PROGRAM
KAVERI
AND AKKA WELCOME THE PARTICIPATION FROM ALL KANNADIGAS TO
TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN AKKA
WORLD KANNADA CONVENTION 2006 CULTURAL PROGRAM. OUR AIM IS
TO BRING OUT THE RICH KARNATAKA
AND KANNADA CULTURE AND HERITAGE TO A CREATIVE PRESENTATION
WITH ALL ITS DIVERSITIES.
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS WE HAVE OUTLINED THE FOLLOWING
GUIDELINES
· It
is mandatory that all participants, artists and choreographers
are registered to AKKA conference.
· We
prefer all items to be in Kannada.
· The
participants are responsible for their costumes, props and
other requirements for their presentations.
· The
participating group will be in charge of setting up and clearing
the stage after the performance.
· All
Cultural Committee decisions are final.
· Tapes
(Video and Audio) and Scripts will not be returned.
· Two
stages, KALAKSHETRA and RANGAMANTAPA, have been established
to accommodate all the selected participants
for cultural programs.

Group
performances, i.e., dances involving multiple cast members
are encouraged. Performances by individuals are discouraged
and
will not
be reviewed favorably.
a) All
productions should be presented in Kannada, or the theme should
be
Related
to karnataka in some way, be it Classical or Folk dance.
b) Duration:
10 minutes.
Materials
Required for Submission: In addition to the Entry Form, the
following must be submitted:
· Good
video of the proposed dance, preferably in costume. If not
available, video of a rehearsal may be submitted. ( needn’t
be professionally
recorded, a home video will suffice)
· Artists’
profile
· If
available, reviews of proposed or past performances, media
coverage, photographs etc are encouraged for submission.
All materials
submitted, including the videotape will not be returned.

CONTEMPORARY

MYSTERY
Group
performances, i.e., dramas involving multiple cast members
are encouraged. Performances by individuals (mono-acting)
are discouraged and
will not be reviewed favorably.
Note:
High caliber dramas will be given preference
a) All
dramas must be in Kannada. Drama entries by youth are also
preferred in Kannada.
However
entries in English from youth members may be considered, provided
the content is related to the conference theme of “Golden
Karnataka-Past, Present and Future.” Such entries are limited
to a maximum of 30 minutes. Only one exceptional entry
in this category may
be selected for presentation.
b) Duration:
Main Stage performances are limited to a maximum of 1 hour.
Plays with durations greater than one hour will only
be considered for the parallel stage. Skits may not exceed
durations of 30 minutes. Selection of dramas for the stage
A versus stage
B is at the discretion of the WKC Drama Committee and their
decisions are final.
c) Materials
Required for Submission: In addition to the Entry Form, the
following must be submitted:
· Good
quality video of the proposed play, preferably in costume.
If not available, video of a rehearsal may be submitted.
· Director’s
profile
· Artists’
profile
· If
available, reviews of proposed or past performances, media
coverage, photographs etc are encouraged for submission.
Note:
Simple stage settings are encouraged. Participants are responsible
for bringing their own costumes, stage props and
managing them
during the event
All materials
submitted, including the videotape will not be returned. Participants
are requested to send a courtesy email to wkc-drama@googlegroups.com
once the materials
have been mailed. Upon receipt of materials, a return email
acknowledging
receipt will be sent to the participants.

RULES
AND REGULATIONS FOR "Sugama Sangeetha"
Folk Songs
, Sugama Sangeetha, Classical Songs, Orchestra, Group Songs,
Kannada film Songs and Vocal and Instrumental will
be considered for convention
1. Folk
songs, Bhavageethas, group songs, Lavanees and film songs,
all in Kannada (Vocal) and all instrumental music will be
considered for the convention
2. Individual
performance (vocal/instrumental) is limited to 6 minutes
3. Duration
for a group of 2 to 6 persons is limited to 10 minutes
4. Duration
for a group of 6 or more is limited to 15 minutes
5. Only
Kannada songs are entertained and Group songs are preferred
6. Make
your own arrangements for accompaniments

RULES

"Clasical
Karnatic Music / Light Clasical Music - Vocal"
- Only
group singing is encouraged
- There
should be a minimum of 5 singers in a group.
- Accompaniments
are not provided by WKC but groups can bring their own
accompaniments if they wish.
- Time
limit is 7 minutes
